Job Summary
The North American Director of Engineering and Process Optimization is responsible for leading all efforts associated with developing a robust engineering team focusing on process commonization/standards, enhancing process productivity and developing new technologies which support our daily operations.
The N.A. Director will play an integral role in developing strategic company priorities and executing actions which result in overall company growth. This role requires a proven leader who is results driven and comfortable working in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development of standardized operating processes within our operations which will include documenting and cataloging by location
- Engineer data driven process improvements which reduce costs, improve quality and overall employee productivity
- Co-develop operational KPI’s which monitor daily/monthly/quarterly site performance prioritizing labor, cost and safety
- Drive best in class processes and lessons learned throughout the operation in a timely fashion
- Lead/Conduct Kaizen events at each site to help drive lean principals and eliminate waste annually
- Co-develop “Precision Operating System” which documents applicable processes and standards which govern each site
- Lead/Mentor small team of engineering professional to achieve annual cost reduction targets and improve operational performance
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or other Engineering discipline
- Background in Finished Vehicle Logistics and or Supply Chain Management
- Five to ten years of leadership experience in Finished Vehicle Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Comfortable/capable of developing and making presentations to Sr. leaders both internally and external to the organization
- Solid business acumen, proven track record of driving process improvements supported by financial analyst (Business Case)
- Proven self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and sense of urgency
- Working knowledge of TPS/FPS/GMS (Toyota/Ford/GM)
Skills and Competencies (incl. Behaviors)
- Computer proficiency with desktop office software ie. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proficient in dynamic/static simulation modeling tools
- In depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and visual workplace design
- Strong analytical skills, ability to mine/use data to drive business decisions
- AutoCAD experience (Facility Layouts)
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills (written/verbal)
- Creative (out of the box) problem solving skills
- Promote/teach continuous improvement mind set both internal and external to the organization
Additional Information
- Position will require occasional travel to Precision operations
