Safety Technology Coordinator chez Melton Truck Lines

Summary: Safety Technology Coordinator will perform office work on a daily basis essential to the operations of Melton Truck Lines. They are responsible for the training and counseling of drivers and make decisions on how and when to retrain or terminate employment based on performance standards. Will observe and report on the progress and performance of drivers daily; coach and mentor students and new hire drivers through the phases of safe driving training; contribute and assist in managing Safety Campaigns and monitor and manage safety technology/programs like Geotab, SambaSafety, AS400, RAIR, DriveCam, Critical Event Recording, Lane Departure Warning, Melton Mentors, and Road Trainer Program, as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties as assigned.

• Administer Lytx - Contracts, billing, Tracks Installation and Calibration, “Up time”, inventory, APIs, Trouble shooting, alerts and projects.
• Observes and reports on progress and performance of drivers daily.
• “Clears” drivers to determine coaching opportunities relating to HOS collisions and safe driving.
• Assists with technology trouble shooting.
• Technology Testing Coordinator - Investigate and coordinate special tests (Beta test driver facing Fusion camera, Mirroeye, Fatigue, SeeingMachines, Park, etc.)
• Understand all of the speed control alerts (lytx, Bendix, Geotab)
• Cover overflow Safety Hotline calls.

Regular onsite job attendance to facilitate effective interaction with others.

Has contact with the following documents: DOT and personnel files including applications, employment verifications, IEG files, and road tests/certifications; AS400 driver history files; logs; termination reports; and performance reviews.

Has the ability to influence an employee’s continuing employment based on performance standards.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma and some business training (at least 1 year) required. Bilingual ability in Spanish is beneficial.

Special Training: Needs to be familiar with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and Innovative AS400 System.

Special Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and be comfortable with public speaking. Also needs to be able to handle stressful situations and pay close attention to detail.

Physical Demands: It is necessary to talk, hear, sit, write, type, walk, and move with a free range of motion. It is occasionally necessary to lift up to 90 lbs.
