Bergen Community College is accepting applications for adjunct positions for our Success 101 courses for Spring 2026.

Success 101:

Bergen Community College offers an Interdisciplinary Studies Course (IST123)  "Success 101", which focuses on equipping students with the skills and resources needed for academic success, personal growth, and navigating the higher education environment. Success 101 incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.

Faculty maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students enrolled in classes and submits required reports to Coordinator and Student Support Services. Submits grades per published deadline. Participates in assessment of learning outcomes and demonstrates the use of the results of these assessments in course planning. Plans lessons in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to successful teaching of assigned classes. Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Education:  A Master's degree in a related field.

Experience: Some teaching experience, particularly at the community college level is often preferred.

Skills and Competencies: Adjunct faculty in this area are expected to possess strong communication, interpersonal, and instructional skills. They should be able to create a welcoming learning environment and provide immediate and meaningful feedback to students. Knowledge of competency-based education and a commitment to professional growth are also valued.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) like Canvas and online teaching platforms is essential, especially for traditional, hybrid, or online courses. 

Rates and Benefits:

  • Adjunct rate for candidates possessing a Master's degree is $960 per credit taught.
  • Tuition Waiver for BCC courses for themselves or their dependents
  • ABP and 403b
