Roving Cook – Aged Care | Wagga Wagga, Kandos, Dubbo

We are currently seeking applications for a Roving Cook to support our Residential Aged Care facilities in Wagga Wagga, Kandos, and Dubbo. This hands-on role is designed to provide coverage when permanent kitchen staff are on leave, ensuring continuity of high-quality food service for our residents.
Salary: Offering a salary of $76,000+ penalties evenings, weekends & public holidays
Locations: Wagga Wagga, Kandos, and Dubbo
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
About the Role
As a Roving Cook, you will be responsible for:
Preparing and cooking meals in accordance with dietary requirements, including texture-modified and special diets
Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness
Regulating cooking equipment temperatures and ensuring safe food handling
Seasoning, plating, and garnishing meals to a high standard
Storing food appropriately to maintain safety and quality
Catering for residents’ individual dietary needs
Supporting menu planning and basic training of kitchen staff when required
Ensuring compliance with HACCP and NSW Food Authority standards
This role involves frequent travel between sites, with travel and accommodation costs covered in addition to standard remuneration.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery
Food Safety Certification
Strong understanding of HACCP and FSANZ guidelines
Experience in preparing meals for aged care or vulnerable persons
Ability to work independently in a sole cook capacity
Compassionate approach and commitment to quality care

It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role.
