Internal Redeployment Only - Taught Programme Administrative Assistant


The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is looking for a Taught Programme Administrative Assistant to support our Post-registration Foundation Training programme. This postgraduate scheme aims to train newly qualified pharmacists to become confident, clinical practitioners.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisation and communication skills, has an eye for detail and can work collaboratively as part of a busy team. This role will work across all aspects of the student journey, providing specialist support for admissions, student records, examining boards, academic regulations, extenuating circumstances and assessments. As well as providing front facing support to students, this role will work hand in hand with the Programme Director, Education Supervisors and Professional Service Education Support Staff.

This role offers an opportunity to build on your existing administrative experience—whether gained in education, healthcare, the public sector, or another professional setting. You don’t need to have worked in a university before; what matters most is your enthusiasm for student support, your transferable skills, and your willingness to grow. As a campus-based, student-facing role, you’ll be a key part of a busy team, helping to deliver a high-quality experience for post-graduate learners.

This position is part-time (28 hours per week), available immediately and fixed term until 31st March 2028.

Salary:  £28,031 - £31,236 per annum, pro-rata (Grade 4). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are  
usually made at the bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances

Job Description

To provide comprehensive and professional support to the Post-registration Foundation Training Programme within the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, providing support and guidance on supporting admissions and enrolment activity, taught programme administration and assessments.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Liaise with the Programme Director to plan, prioritise and organise the work and resources required for delivery of the Post-registration Foundation Training programme.
  • Provide detailed advice and guidance on postgraduate taught administrative processes  and procedures to internal and external customers (staff, students or members of the public), using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, and contributing to the solving of more complex issues.
  • Work with others to make recommendations to improve our ways of working.
  • Establish productive relationships with key individuals (University colleagues and external contacts) to help improve the level of service the team provides to its customers.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department achieve its objectives.
  • Gather and analyse data (e.g. relating to postgraduate taught student services) so that informed decisions can be made, establishing basic trends and patterns in the data and providing reports and recommendations for management.
  • Instruct and guide colleagues across the University within postgraduate taught administration as required.
General Duties
