About the Department
Position Duties
• Conducts research of division files, legal records, database records, electronic data sources, Internet sites, hardcopy materials, or other sources as needed.
• Creates and maintains computer databases of Division data; maintains spreadsheets of statistical data; enters operational data, field data, measurements, specifications, and other data into computer.
• Prepares technical engineering reports, studies, bid specifications, or other documents; provides reports or data to division management, consultants, outside agencies or others as appropriate.
• Produces graphic materials relating to division projects for display or presentation at meetings; prepares digital copies of plans; performs general drafting work.
• Performs field work to collect data at various sites; performs surveying and utilizes global position unit to collect data; takes photographs and measurements of field conditions.
• Provides information and assistance related to Division activities, data, procedures, documentation, or other issues; reviews requests for Division services and takes appropriate action; responds to routine questions, researches questions/problems, and initiates problem resolution.
• Answers public inquiries in a call-center oriented environment.
• Solves complex problems in collaboration with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments.
• Applies standard operating procedures as provided by the Division.
• Manages multiple software systems simultaneously with solid computer skills.
• Performs real-time traffic monitoring with the use of CCTV cameras.
• Performs traffic signal control to improve traffic flow.
• Troubleshoots and maintains Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), detection systems, and fiber optic communications.
• Competence in using software platforms to monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot signals.
• Follows and adheres to the MUTCD standards, FHWA guidelines, and local traffic signal policies.
• Uses troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both field and network-based signal/ITS equipment.
• Works independently and respond to malfunctions promptly.
• Gather data on traffic volumes, count data, and turning movement counts.
• Manages and monitors the health of ITS infrastructure equipment.
• Reports and coordinates repair or maintenance activities.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

- Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
