Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Performs advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments.
- Evaluates and analyzes the impacts to communities and projects related to community development, urban design, placemaking and economic development.
- Provides guidance on and prepares application for grant and financing options in support of planning and engineering efforts.
- Research county, state, and federal regulations related to environmental quality, social equity, economic and sustainable development, and comprehensive planning.
- Performs technical and field research to gather data for controversial or complex projects.
- Writes, or assists in writing, technical reports and correspondence.
- Assists in developing long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
- Assists in developing strategies to promote economic and community development or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
- Some travel, including occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Planning, Geography, Economic Development, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Life Science, or related field.
- Two (2) years of professional work experience in land use planning, urban design, or economic development; OR an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education required.
- Master’s degree Planning, Geography, Economic Development, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Life Science, or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of field and technical research practices.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and sketches.
- Ability to make independent decisions, prepare narrative reports, and act as a liaison between department and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to develop and maintain working relationships and informally negotiate with other departments, offices, outside entities, and private consultants.
