GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Director of Housekeeping & Laundry Services is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Housekeeping/Laundry Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator.
- Director of Housekeeping responsible to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Housekeeping/Laundry Services Department
- Develop and maintain written policies and procedures as required.
- Interview, hire, evaluate, and discharge personnel. Schedule and directly supervise department staff. Supervise the training of department staff.
- Maintain a productive working relationship with other departments and coordinate services and activities with other related departments (Nursing, Recreation, etc.).
- Make frequent rounds and other inspections to ensure that personnel are performing required duties and that appropriate procedures are being rendered to meet the needs of the facility in each respective department.
- Ensure that personnel follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
- Make written/oral reports and recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Departments.
- Participate in facility inspections and surveys made by government agencies, insurance companies, etc.
- Place orders for equipment and supplies as needed. Maintain inventory and records as needed/directed for department.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality improvement program for the Environmental Services Departments.
- Ensure that all hskp/laundry services personnel follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress code and conduct.
- Serve on various facility committees, (e.g. Safety Committee, Infection Control, QAPI, etc.).
- Performs regular inspections of common areas for sanitation, order, safety, and comfortable environment.
- Coordinates Housekeeping/Laundry services and activities with other related units.
- Coordinates and monitors resident moves and responds to resident requests promptly and according to policies.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Infection control training and/or in-servicing, preferred.
- Advanced degree in hospitality management or related field a plus but not required.
- Two to three years of Housekeeping/Laundry Services experience in a comparably sized company preferably Long-Term Care
- Supervision experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
- Flexible with call-backs during emergency conditions
- Flexible to works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
