Assistant Manager - Private School Cafeteria Kitchen| Location: 39 Fernhill Ave., Ross, CA 94957

Hourly Pay: $33-35 per hour| Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 am-2:00 pm

Your Impact:

The Assistant Manager – Private School supports the Executive Chef in delivering consistent and exceptional dining experiences and is responsible for leading and managing kitchen operations, ensuring efficient service, high-quality food preparation, and a well-organized, safe work environment. This role involves overseeing staff, scheduling shifts, maintaining inventory, and managing supplies while enforcing health and safety standards. As a key leader, the Assistant Manager drives operational excellence, fosters team collaboration, and ensures the kitchen runs smoothly. Their ability to lead by example, streamline processes, and manage resources effectively is essential in delivering a consistent, high-performance kitchen environment.

 

What You'll Do 

  • Work in collaboration with the Executive Chef to drive excellence in food service operations, foster team development, and deliver an outstanding dining experience for the students.
  • Curate and design diverse, innovative menus centered around scratch-cooked, high-quality ingredients
  • Integrate nutritional elements and cater to diverse dietary preferences
  • Lead and inspire a culinary team to deliver excellence in food preparation, presentation, and taste
  • Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture
  • Supervise and schedule kitchen staff, ensuring efficient operation
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and track deliveries
  • Assist with menu planning to ensure balanced, nutritious meals
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health standards
  • Oversee meal preparation and ensure timely, high-quality service
  • Control kitchen budget, monitor food costs, and reduce waste
  • Communicate with staff and faculty to address dietary needs
  • Maintain records for inventory, staffing, and safety inspections
  • Ensure proper upkeep of kitchen equipment and facilities
  • Support administrative processes related to kitchen operations 

 

What You Will Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in hospitality management or food service preferred
  • Ace culinary skills and knowledge--catering background highly preferred, but not mandatory
  • A strong commitment to scratch cooking and using fresh, quality ingredients
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
  • Proficiency in inventory control and cost management
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong understanding of finances
  • Solid interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with students/in a school setting preferred, but not a deal-breaker
  • Excellence at building connections and strengthening bonds between staff and external partners
  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card
  • Certification in Culinary Arts or Kitchen Management is advantageous

This may involve walking, standing, and occasionally navigating stairs or elevators. The employee is frequently exposed to the kitchen environment such as fumes, or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet & or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat & vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
