The YMCA of South Florida's Youth Development Team is looking for a professional with experience in behavioral prevention/ intervention related to children to join our team in Broward County. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Behavior Strategist is responsible for the development, evaluation, and implementation of strategic interventions for participants at various assigned sites. Additional responsibilities include data input and data tracking, data collection, as well as staff training, environmental modifications, and development of student specific materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Observe environment, staff, and students to identify need for intervention strategy development. Develop, plan, evaluate, implement and modify strategies as needed, and are up to date
  • Oversee and assist direct care staff with the implementation of positive behavior strategies by providing support, modeling, directions, and performance evaluation.
  • Assist staff with identifying and implementing positive behavior strategies associated with the individuals success
  • Encourage and support staff development through modeling, shadowing, training, redirection
  • Provide individual ongoing support, coaching and guidance to frontline staff .
  • Train and supervise behavior assistants
  • Develop and provide staff development trainings courses for all program staff
  • Implement staff recognition program. Facilitate weekly staff meetings to enhance program quality
  • Ensure documentation and data collection is completed consistently and accurately .
  • Document behavior issues and/or incidents daily, as needed. Communicate with families when needed .
  • Maintain consistent communication with Associate Executive Director, Program Director Site Supervisor, supervisors, Behavior Assistants, on any and all issues concerning the program site.
  • Follow proper emergency procedures appropriate to the site and in conformity with procedures adopted by the YMCA of South Florida and emergency service authorities to ensure the safety of children and staff.
  • Foster and maintain positive and constant communication and relationships with principles, assistant principal, facilities personnel and any other school board personnel to ensure the safety of all children and staff
  • Administrative duties, (payroll, files, scheduling). Attend all staff meetings and training opportunities

Time Management

  • 50% quality care preventative care
  • 40% customer service
  • 10% administrative duties

Education and Experience: 

  • At least three years' professional experience in multidisciplinary behavioral prevention/intervention work
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Psychology or related field
  • Within 1 year of hire, the incumbent must have completed and hold certificates in:
    1. The Thirty (30) Hour Training Requirement consisting of (a) Child Growth and Development, (b) Health, Safety and Nutrition, (c) Child Care Facility State and Local Rules and Regulations, (d) Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, and (e) Behavior Observation and Assessment.
    2. The Ten (10) Hour Developmentally Appropriate Module (preferred- School-Age Appropriate Practices).
  • Within 30 days of hire, the incumbent must have completed and hold certificate in First Aid and CPR, New Employee Orientation.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
