Campus Prevention Educator

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, the Campus Prevention Educator will provide prevention education and training to campus administrators, staff, students, and victim service providers in the community. They will work closely to assist the Campus Project Coordinator in other program related duties and may be required to work on other prevention education contracts, in the engaging men and youth programs. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Schedule and provide training to campus administrators, staff, students and victim service providers.
  • Develop, update and revise the program curricula and materials including program assessment tools, as necessary.
  • Serve as a liaison and build positive working relationships with community members and partnering agencies.
  • Maintain database consistent with Vera House practices.

  • Adhere to all Vera House policies, procedures and safety protocols.
  • Participate in the necessary collaborative meetings with campus partners.
  • Manage difficult and/or emotional client situations and respond promptly to client needs.
  • Ensure that all services are maintained in accordance with the Agency’s mission and goals.
  • Support and assist the Campus Project Coordinator as needed.
  • Engage community members, including men and boys, to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault and other forms of abuse by providing and coordinating educational outreach.
  • Represent the Agency to the community and collaborate with community members through tabling events to ensure the implementation and/or maintenance of the Agency’s program services.
  • Maintain strong professional boundaries, limited to the extent of professional relationships, ensuring compliance, ethical and appropriate interactions.

 

 

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Public Health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of relative work experience.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills and ability to work independently.
  • Prompt response to crisis as well as thorough and consistent follow up with victims/clients and delivery systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic and sexual violence including elder abuse.
  • Knowledge of community-based service systems and knowledge of the criminal and civil justice systems. 
  • Ability to work with, as well as maintain positive working relationships with community partners.
  • Adaptability to demanding situations and working well under pressure.
  • Capability to develop a positive, compassionate rapport with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or other violent trauma.
  • Skill to provide trauma informed services and knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a crisis orientated setting with diverse individuals.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check. 

 

 

 

SALARY RANGE:

$21.00-$23.00 per hour/Non-Exempt
