MNS is hiring an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer, providing complex inspection services, while utilizing and demonstrating a strong knowledge of Civil Engineering and Construction Management quality assurance practices per client/project specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works in conjunction with technical field inspectors and project team members to assure project goals are being met
- Assists with engineering calculations for water resources related work that may include: hydraulic/hydrologic calculations, pump station design review, pipeline alignment review, detention basin review, flow capacity calculations, and similar engineering tasks in support of Resident Engineer as appropriate
- Assists with interpretation of contract plans and specifications to contractors and other project participants
- Inspects and approves contractors’ work and assures adherence to contract documents
- Assists Resident Engineer with review of contract change orders
- Assures project's quality control and quality assurance standards
- Prepares and updates project logs for submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project
- Assists with working on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features
- Performs and analyzes testing of construction materials
- Assists with resolving issues arising from the inspection process or from contract administration
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field *Associates or Technical related degrees matched with robust relevant experience to be considered on a case by case basis
- Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required
- 5 + years construction contract management experience related to water infrastructure projects
We are seeking candidates with relevant experience or exposure to water infrastructure related work in some of the following areas:
- Large diameter sewer and water pipeline, including trenchless installations
- Water and wastewater treatment plants, including membrane filtration technology
- Sewer lift stations
- Booster pump stations
- Groundwater wells
- Stormwater diversion, capture, and treatment
- Flood control infrastructure
- SCADA installation, integration, and startup commissioning
- Steel tank
- Concrete steel in bolted water reservoirs
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills
- Interacts with other staff
- Represents the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments
