Principal Objective

The Collection Specialist is responsible for assisting the Loan Workout Specialists (LWS’s) at the individual Bank level in collecting payments for all delinquent consumer and overdrafts with a goal of minimizing delinquencies and loan losses.  Also, the incumbent will look to identify potential serious collection issues at the most early stages of delinquency and advise LWS’s of said accounts.  This position will provide additional support to Risk Management initiatives and related Department functions as needed.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete daily collection calls to delinquent consumer and SBL accounts as identified by assigned JH Collection queues following Brookline Bancorp Collections, Delinquency Monitoring and NPA Management Matrix (Collections Matrix) ;
  • Record and log daily collection activity on JH Collection Module; 
  • Ensure required State specific and Federal notices are generated and sent by required timelines per role under Collections Matrix;
  • Generate and distribute FCM Delinquency Reports to Consumer and Mortgage Management team at Brookline Bank;
  • Monitor and clear check and automatic debit bounces; 
  • Be proficient in the Company’s accounting software system;
  • Make ACH date and bank changes as required;
  • Work with customers and Loan Operations. to resolve potential billing errors and/or payment processing issues;
  • Know and understand the Company’s BSA/AML compliance policies, and participate in the company’s ongoing compliance training.
    • Assist LWS’s with Consumer Foreclosure/Auction process and management of OREO portfolio; 

 

Job Specifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required)

  • Strong verbal communications. 
  • Previous consumer loan workout/collections experience.
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve.
  • Ability to work independent and understand the need for timely response and proactive measures.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with team and other department colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of computer software word excel and TValue.
