JOB SUMMARY:
This Management Trainee position is designed to prepare high-potential individuals for a future role in bank leadership. The program provides structured exposure to bank operations,
client relationship development, cash management, lending, and business development. The goal is to cultivate leadership, deepen client engagement skills, and prepare the trainee for an
officer position within the Bank. Average tenure in the program is expected to be 18-24 months, depending on the state of readiness of the individual and opportunities for promotion
within the Bank.
TRAINING PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Phase I – Foundations (6 months)
- Work closely with branch operations in roles of Client Service Representative and Relationship Banking Specialist to develop knowledge of bank products, bank operational processes and procedures, regulations and compliance.
- Visit and work with other departments including Call Center, Operations Support, and Senior Operations.
- Exposure to all departments including Compliance, Human Resources, Marketing, Merchant Services and Finance.
Phase II – Relationship Banking Focus (6-12 months)
- Work closely with Relationship Banking in Eugene and Portland in role of Relationship Banking Assistant.
- Learn cash management tools and depository services.
- Learn to demo bank products including online banking, ACH capabilities and Remote Deposit Capture.
- Assist with onboarding new deposit relationships and cash management solutions.
- Attend joint calls with Relationship Banking Officers and Commercial Lenders. Learn to identify cross-sell opportunities and deepen client relationships.
Phase III – Commercial Lending Focus (6-12 months)
- Work closely with commercial lenders, credit analysts and commercial loan assistants.
- Train with commercial loan assistants to develop a knowledge of loan documentation.
- Train with credit analysts to develop knowledge in financials statements, credit analysis and underwriting.
- Attend OBA sponsored training related to commercial lending.
Completion Criteria
Graduation from the program will be based on demonstrated proficiency in relationship banking, leadership potential, and alignment with the bank’s cultural values. Successful trainees will be eligible for promotion into officer roles in the Bank.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- No prior banking experience required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel and work across departments.
- Passion for community involvement and client service.
- Ability to manage complex workflows and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
