Summary of Responsibilities:
The General Housekeeper provides a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the facility to ensure a healthy and attractive environment for residents and staff. The General Housekeeper is responsible for heavy housekeeping and maintenance of residential living (apartments, villas, cottages and vistas), Personal Care, Nursing Care, Core/Administration areas, as well as public areas, and common areas. Additional responsibilities include the setup and teardown of campus-wide events, moving of large items and performing light routine maintenance activities throughout the campus.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Adheres to proper and regulatory procedures for cleaning and sanitizing the facility, removing trash and recyclable items, collecting and emptying bins containing PHI protected by
- Maintains satisfactory standards in the safe and responsible use of chemicals and
- Collects soiled linen items in residential living (apartments), Personal Care, Nursing Care, Core/ Fitness Center, public areas, and common areas daily.
- Sorts, counts, stocks and distributes clean linen items as
- Follows all prescribed cleaning procedures for various areas of the facility including routine inspections of area of leadership.
- Operates wide area ride on vacuum cleaners, push vacuum and backpack vacuums to clean carpets and solid surface floors on a daily basis to ensure the cleanliness of the campus.
- Operates ride on extractors, manual electrical extractors, handheld extractors, floor scrubbers and encapsulation machines to clean carpets and solid surface floors on a daily basis to ensure the cleanliness of the campus.
- Follows floor care schedule to ensure proper floor care is completed on a daily, weekly, monthly and semi-annual schedule.
- Gathers wheelchairs and walkers to clean in accordance with departmental policies utilizing hand cleaning and machine cleaning methods.
- Transfers wheelchairs and other assistive devices to and from storage as
- Moves and exchange carts, take down and re-hang sheers and
- Utilizes standard precautions for infection
- Daily moves furniture items, as needed, to facilitate cleaning or to set up tables and chairs for special functions. Occasionally climbs ladders to complete cleaning assignments.

- Assists in minor routine pest management practices following proper procedures and Departmental plans, policies and procedures, including but not limited to accompanying the professional pest control organization on campus, placing and monitoring pest and varmint control traps and baits, applying premixed pest control sprays and baits as needed.

- Cleaning and removing leaves, salt and other debris from interior and exterior
- Assisting the Maintenance and Grounds Departments in snow removal and salting operations in inclement weather.
- Participate in and complete all required ongoing training, including monthly online and in-person training, annual skills competencies education, and role-specific certifications, to ensure continued competence and adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.

Position Type/Expected House of Work:
- This is a full-time or part-time position, 2nd shift hours. This position requires a rotating weekend schedule with every other Saturday and Sunday as part of the routine Days of work depend on scheduled days. Evening, weekend, on-call, holiday, and work during inclement weather may be required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required if working in Personal Care or Assisted Living Areas)
- 1-3 Years of experience working with Senior Adults or in a customer service setting (Preferred)
- 1-3 Years prior housekeeping experience (Preferred)
- Completion of the Highlands Hearthstone Ambassador training within 30 days of employment (Required)
Work Authorization/Security Clearances:

- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Only required if you have not lived in PA for the last 2 years)
- Immigration and naturalization (I-9) Clearance
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and acceptable MVR (if operating company vehicle)
