Position Overview
Seeking a seasoned Telecommunication’s Mechanic with ability to install and maintain ISDN technology and wireless building Efemto repeater installations. This position is to support a multi-year contract for the United States Naval Air Base Telephone Office at Patuxent River, MD. This Telecommunication Technician must also be able to provision facilities and coordinate the resources necessary to support the Government-owned 5ESS switch—building switch translations to support ISDN, PRI, Multiplexors, T1s, Fiber Rings, Analog services, and health surveillance of the network in conjunction with the Verizon support team.
Responsibilities
- Telecommunication Engineering Technical Assistance and Installation
- Equipment Provisioning, Testing, and Quality Assurance (QA) of Voice and Data Circuits
- Network Management Systems (NMS) Support
- Telecommunications Service Coordination with supporting contract-approved vendors
- Familiarity with Telecommunications Systems and Circuit Design
- Design Telecommunication Systems Architecture and meet connectivity requirements for quality service
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), Windows 11, Office 365, and basic computer skills
- Qualified candidates must have two years of college or 4 years of hands-on experience in the telecommunications industry
- Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting, and quality requirements
- Required to have telephony installation and maintenance skills, particularly with ISDN technologies
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Sound customer service, administrative, and operational support attributes
- Ability to write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or desk guides for the tasks being performed
- Availability to work core hours 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Preferred Qualifications
- Operational experience with the AT&T 5ESS telephone switching system, including provisioning, maintenance, and surveillance of the Government network
- Prior experience as a 5ESS or VOIP Field Technician
Salary
SCA Rate: $37.07/hr + $4.57 Health & Welfare
