Director, Data Sales
Data is the lifeblood of the financial markets, fueling critical decisions for traders, risk managers, and financial institutions worldwide. As a Director of Data Sales, you’ll be at the forefront of this business, driving growth, shaping the future of our data products, and cultivating strategic partnerships. You will lead the charge in a fast-paced environment where innovation and deep client relationships are key to success.
What You’ll Do
Drive new data revenue by generating business from existing and prospective customers.
Build and nurture key relationships with senior leaders at significant data vendors, leveraging their reach to scale sales and product adoption.
Champion a customer-led focus, gathering client feedback and market insights to inform the design and development of CME Group’s data products and analytics offerings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Product, Data Science, and Marketing, to create data-driven business intelligence reports that proactively identify sales opportunities.
Act as the primary data point person for your colleagues, facilitating a seamless and holistic CME Group footprint for our top-tier accounts.
Lead account management and sales execution for new and strategic data products, ensuring a deep level of engagement with clients beyond our top strategic firms.
Orchestrate seamless client support by partnering closely with internal teams like Legal, Finance, and Operations to manage the entire sales lifecycle.
What You’ll Bring
A minimum of 6-8 years of sales or product management experience within wholesale financial market data, with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with financial firms.
Strong knowledge of market data pricing and licensing models across the financial industry.
Deep understanding of the data consumer ecosystem, including major information vendors, investment banks, trading firms, and cloud providers.
A history of consistently achieving and exceeding individual revenue targets.
Exceptional business acumen and the ability to navigate complex customer engagements to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
The ability to prioritize, manage, and execute multiple responsibilities to meet or exceed team objectives in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively across organizations and foster a collaborative culture.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
