Job Description:

The Arizona State University (ASU) School of Social Work (SSW) Data Analyst Associate works as part of a team to provide support services. Develops and manages the internship database under administrative direction policies and procedures relating to the entry, storage, maintenance, and security of financial, personal, and demographic data relating to students, staff, and affiliates of the university and unit accounts in all corporate systems.

This position is based at the Phoenix Downtown campus and on-site work will be required.

Essential Duties:

  • Under administrative direction, develops and manages policies and procedures relating to the entry, storage, maintenance, and security of personal and demographic data relating to students, staff, and affiliates of the university in all corporate systems.
  • As directed, works with functional areas to develop policies, standards, definitions, and conventions governing the creation and use of enterprise bio/demo data.
  • Under administrative direction, implements system administration procedures such as data validation processes, duplicate resolution processes, system change requests and system integration / user acceptance testing to ensure ongoing integrity and security of people data in line with university policy and procedures.
  • Establishes definitions, standards, and naming conventions for enterprise administrative data to ensure ongoing integrity, accuracy, and internal consistency of administrative data as directed.
  • Prepares and disseminates reference sources containing pertinent policies, definitions, and other information necessary to use administrative data.
  • Audits data and reports outcomes to functional areas for reinforcement or established policies, standards, definitions, and conventions.
  • Supports the applicable systems and databases for access, error resolution, and processes to keep data in sync with a variety of inter-related systems.
  • Performs testing of new releases of the application to identify impacts to and across data libraries and/or databases to ensure data integrity. 
  • Supporting the internship database, and practicum courses, answering tickets, creating forms, workflows, assisting users with logging in, etc. Supporting our stakeholders who enter the data into Sonia and place students.
  • Supports users internally and externally with an internship database, including logins, issues, forms, and access.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of database practices, principles, and policies regarding university data.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques associated with administration of security permissions and access within an enterprise relational database environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of developing queries for reporting and analysis skill in effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to demonstrate good problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute queries within the internship database.
  • Ability to apply good attention to detail while maintaining university perspective.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and student support for our stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand our programs and work closely with our stakeholders to create the placement groups by program, completes the placement groups.
  • Ability to create process guides for our team and our stakeholders and students on how to access internship database, complete items, etc.
  • Ability to navigate and update the LMS system each semester.
  • Knowledge of excel, word, power point, canvas.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
