The Director of Policy supports MRO’s Government Affairs department by leading the tracking, analysis, and development of both federal and state policy positions. This role requires a strong understanding of health policy, data privacy, interoperability, and health technology issues affecting health systems and providers. The Director of Policy will translate complex policy and regulatory proposals into actionable insights that guide MRO’s business strategy, advance company initiatives, and position MRO as a thought leader within the healthcare technology ecosystem. This position reports to the Vice President, Government Affairs. 

 

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Track and analyze federal and state legislation and regulatory activity relevant to MRO and its clients.
  • Monitor developments in health technology policy, data privacy, interoperability, reimbursement, and value-based care at both the federal and state levels.
  • Draft regulatory comment letters, white papers, legislative testimony, and model bill language.
  • Develop policy briefings, strategic memoranda, and presentations for internal subject matter experts, business units, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align strategy and messaging across MRO’s business units on legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with policy and regulatory changes, and create communication strategies to inform leadership, internal teams, and customers.
  • Provide timely policy analysis to guide executive decision-making.
  • Identify business and market opportunities driven by evolving policy and regulatory environments.
  • Contribute thought leadership materials, presentations, and external engagement to elevate MRO’s position in the health IT sector.
  • Support the development of Political Action Committee (PAC) strategy, materials, and compliance tracking.
  • Represent MRO at trade association meetings, industry coalitions, and policy events.

 

 

SKILLS|EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPH, MPP) preferred.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in health policy or regulatory affairs.
  • Strong expertise in healthcare technology policy, interoperability, and provider reimbursement (including quality programs, value-based payment, and alternative payment models).
  • Experience with federal and state regulatory processes and public policy development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of both federal and state legislative processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear and actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented, with demonstrated project management skills and experience supporting senior-level presentations.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build consensus across internal business units and external partners.
