The Reserve Bank of Australia is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure Services team to provide support, service delivery and proactive maintenance of key operating systems, platform systems, and virtualisation systems to enable business critical applications.
About the role
- Application upgrades/replacements for Systems Services applications
- Design and implement complex infrastructure solutions, including architectural and detailed design documentation, standards, procedures, and support materials.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of infrastructure components.
- Manage certificate renewals, firmware/driver updates, and routine server decommissioning.
- Perform server builds and upgrades, SOE management, and remediation of obsolete operating systems and hardware.
- Mitigate hardware, operating systems and applications that are reaching the end of support/life.
- Develop strategies and solutions to ensure the continued security and resilience of the Bank’s infrastructure.
- Assess upcoming or raised vulnerabilities for applications and hardware and plan for a mitigation
- Maintain awareness of industry developments and best practices in infrastructure, automation, and security.
About you
- 3–8 years of experience in systems administration
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise-grade Linux/Windows environments
- Strong understanding of virtualisation technologies and server operating systems
- Ability to mitigate end-of-life hardware and software risks through proactive planning and execution.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware platforms and systems management tools
- Proven expertise in infrastructure software technologies, including backup solutions, antivirus, patching, and application agents
- Excellent communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to automate system build and update processes, aligned with established policies and procedural documentation
- Experience in developing policies, procedures, and technical support documentation
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks effectively
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in IT or other relevant discipline.
IT accreditation relevant to position that have been maintained to current levels.
