The Opportunity
Lead the implementation and education of the Glanbia Performance System to ensure that all plant employees have the tools and knowledge to improve and sustain a zero loss work culture that drives out injuries and ensures products are safe and meet quality specifications. Provide leadership to engage the plant in successfully progressing through the GPS phases and ensure delivery of our annual GPS saving goals. Develop organizational capabilities through culture change driven by GPS. Ensure GPS is fully integrated across organization to create “World Class” facilities. This permanent position will report to the GPS Plant Leader.
- Partner with site leadership to drive improvement in all plant True North measurements utilizing Focused Improvement, AM, UAM, and other GPS tools and processes. Partner with pillars across the site to ensure effective tools and processes to measure results in all pillar areas.
- Create and maintain robust plant communication tools and processes across the facility for all GPS activity including daily review boards, measurement boards, team progress boards and charts, etc.
- Facilitate the development of annual plant GPS pillar work plans.
- Continually conduct robust reviews and audits of site pillar plans and work streams to ensure a high level of pace and activity.
- Support GPS Boot Camp training events and work to develop the expertise, skill, and knowledge necessary to plan and execute boot camp trainings, facilitation, and report-outs
- Partner with the site T&D Pillar to identify GPS training needs for the plant and to deliver training solutions on GPS tools and processes to address plant needs and to ensure pace and process rigor.
- Ensure that all plant employees have opportunities for engagement and ownership in GPS programs and activities
- Act as the champion and subject matter expert for Root Cause Analysis. Ensure that all teams understand and continually drive to root cause. Be involved with and lead troubleshooting and problem solving exercises
- Partner with Daily Operations to sustain daily review and communication process through continual coaching and auditing of daily review processes across the plant.
- Champion One Right Way initiatives including education, centerlining and rate-lock, standard work documents and systems. Partner with the T&D pillar team and with positional trainers to ensure that One Right Way processes are followed and that documents are updated and trained out properly.
- Personally lead teams utilizing GPS processes
- Provide leadership and direction to all employees through direct and indirect leadership and coaching.
- Ensure plant meets stretch savings goals.
- Ensure troubleshooting capabilities or developed with all operators and maintenance personnel through teaching, coaching, and partnering on the use of GPS tools and processes
- Partner with the Maintenance Department to develop preventive maintenance schedules and make decisions regarding emergency maintenance
- Work with the plant Safety pillar team to ensure full application and measurement of GPS tools. Perform audits to ensure that the Glanbia injury and near miss review process is applied properly for all safety incidents.
- Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
- Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Requires a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Understanding of GPS and similar continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Ability to teach and train others effectively and facilitate meetings and group discussions
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
