About the Department
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for budgeting, financial analysis, and process improvement? We are seeking a Budget Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial planning and reporting functions.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling bank and general ledger accounts, assisting in the development and publication of the annual budget, and supporting year-end audit processes. You’ll collaborate with internal departments, provide guidance on budget-related inquiries, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial procedures.

Position Duties
Job Duties
Bank Reconciliation
- Prepare and process journal entries to record financial transactions
- Produce reports for account reconciliations
- Reconcile monthly bank statements to the Operating, Accounts Payable/Payroll, Workers Compensation and Letter of Credit Accounts
- Research anomalies and discrepancies on a timely basis
- Verify account corrections and/or adjustments are made on a timely basis
Budget
- Comprehend the budget process including the software programs to assist MAC staff with entering data, making adjustments, producing reports and developing the annual budget document
- Act as budget specialist for Finance-related service centers, inputting data and adjustments as necessary during the budget process
- Analyze and prepare budget expense forecasts upon request for Executive Staff
- Assist MAC staff with issues and/or questions concerning budgets
- Perform analytical reviews and respond to requests and questions from budget specialists
- Provide assistance during the budget process as necessary to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Review revenue and expense reconciliations between budget and actual data
- Maintain salary and wages analysis spreadsheet
- Compose budget document chapters as assigned
- Build and publish the annual budget document with input from various MAC staff
Other
- Recommend improvements for budget process, bank reconciliations and year-end processes
- Assist in year-end processes and annual audit
- Update procedures manual for Accountant position as needed
- Search for and request MAC unclaimed property from third party
- Audit petty cash and change funds
- Complete special projects as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related fields
- Three years of budget experience including revenue and expense forecasting, compiling revenue and expense information and budget report preparation
- In lieu of a degree, seven years of budget experience including revenue and expense forecasting, compiling revenue and expense information and budget report preparation
- Account reconciliation experience
- Advanced skill level using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Intermediate skill level using Adobe software and Outlook
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze, interpret and report financial data
- Advanced writing skills
- Ability to multi-task and complete assignments under pressure and within deadlines
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other professional accounting certification/designation
- Experience using JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software
- Basic skill level using Microsoft Teams
- Experience in reconciling multiple bank accounts
- Experience proofreading documents and financial data
- Experience training staff with budget preparation
