POSITION SUMMARY
Join Second Harvest Heartland’s Development team as Annual Giving Intern to deepen your fundraising skills while working to end hunger. This role will support the Annual Giving team with tasks such as day-to-day administration, copywriting, and fundraising campaign production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support day-to-day administrative activities for the Annual Giving team.
- Support planning and production for Annual Giving fundraising campaigns and giving days.
- Write, edit and proofread copy for internal and external communications such as blog posts, emails, campaign summaries, texting campaign scripts and website promotions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- A combination of education or relevant experience in fundraising, nonprofits, sales or marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
- Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office, Office 365 and the ability to learn other computer software programs.
- Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and follow through on multiple daily tasks and projects with attention to detail.
- Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed or working towards a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of and experience with nonprofits or mission-led organizations, including volunteering or internship experience.
- Fundraising, sales, or marketing experience, such as peer-to-peer or direct response campaigns in a volunteer, intern or paid employment capacity.
- Experience working with or interest in learning to use project management platforms such as Wrike or Asana.
TIME REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEUDLE:
- Total time requirement: October 2025 – August 2026 (flexible), approximately 10-12 hour/week
- Days of the week: Days of the week for this position are flexible but within Monday-Friday business hours.
- Time of the day: 8:30am to 4:30pm (flexible within these hours)
- Work sites: Second Harvest Heartland HQ Brooklyn Park and/or virtual. In person at HQ on Wednesdays is preferred but not required.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Learning objectives will be jointly developed between the chosen candidate and the Annual Giving Manager. Several possible learning objectives that fit within this role include:
- Gaining hands-on experience helping plan and execute a multi-channel fundraising campaign.
- Acquiring project management skills in a professional setting.
- Strengthening writing and communication skills, particularly in a nonprofit and fundraising capacity.
- Developing organizational, time management and communication skills.
