The Deli Manager-In-Training role at Cosentino's Price Choppers in the Greater Kansas City Area is a comprehensive program designed to cultivate future leaders within our deli departments. This position focuses on developing a strong foundation in retail operations, encompassing all aspects of deli management, from inventory control and merchandising to customer service and team leadership. Responsibilities:

  • Learn and execute all aspects of deli operations, including food preparation, presentation, and sanitation, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Assist in managing inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking products, while minimizing loss through effective loss prevention strategies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of merchandising plans to maximize sales and profitability, utilizing marketing principles.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Assist in the training and coaching of deli team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Learn and apply effective task management techniques to prioritize and complete daily operational duties.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of promotional events and sales initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to inventory, sales, and labor costs.
  • Demonstrate accountability for achieving departmental goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of retail sales principles.
  • General knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated honesty and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a deli or food service environment.
  • Experience in inventory control and auditing procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Familiarity with retail operations management.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment.
