Job Summary 

The specialist role is essential for supporting and elevating continuous quality improvement, while enhancing the effectiveness of the Certification Activities team members and assuring positive outcomes for credential applicant / holder.

 • Supports and elevates continuous quality improvement while further optimizing credential processing workflows.

 • Contributes to developing and maintaining Certification Activities procedures and other relevant BOC procedures.

 • Determines eligibility and processes applicants for ASCP Board of Certification ASCP examinations.

 • Enhances credential holders’ experiences through answering questions and developing resources for credentialing processes and eligibility requirements.

• Assists Manager(s) and Director with applicants requiring test accommodations according to ADA and other relevant regulations.

 • Monitors and assists with updates to the credential section of the BOC website. 

• Assists Manager(s) and Director in the review process for formal appeals.

 • Assures the effectiveness of CA team training / retraining.

 • Assists with other duties necessary to optimize workflow of Certification Activities. 

• Manages the BOC database of programs and program directors.

 • Communicates effectively with NAACLS, CAAHEP, and ABHES educational programs directors.

 • Assists with Program Performance Reports (PPR), Examination Eligibility Verification (EEV), and the Program Director’s Advisory Committee (PDAC).

 • Assists with Program Director’s BOC section of the website, Program Director’s Guide and eLinks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

 • Assists in reviewing, developing, and maintaining CA Activities SOPs.

 • Assists in monitoring online application process and Personify evaluation module for optimal functionality.

 • Evaluates applicants’ eligibility for examination and conducts audits in accordance with CA processing requirements. 

• Assists in reviewing and updating CA email and post-login notifications to candidates.

• Identifies technical issues and notifies Department Manager / I&T of any technical issues as they arise and follows through on resolution.

 • Serves as a resource person for CA evaluators for problem solving and decision-making regarding CA eligibility requirements or application processing. 

• Assists in identifying and implementing program processing improvements including effective, corrective and preventative action documentation. 

• Assists in reviewing applicant test accommodation requests and documentation according to ADA regulations and, coordinates accommodation needs with applicants and Pearson VUE Client Approved Accommodations group. 

• Reviews and investigates formal appeal requests with the Department Manager. 

• Researches and assists in resolving credit card issues and disputes.

 • Assists in overseeing the instruction of new examination application evaluators and ongoing training of current evaluation team.

 • Monitors and responds to Program Directors’ mailbox and Personify database updates. 

• Manages the BOC database of programs and program directors (NAACLS, CAAHEP, and ABHES). 

• Assists with the production and quality assurance of the Program Performance Reports (PPRs) and Examination Eligibility Verifications (EEVs). 

• Assists with the activities of the Program Director Advisory Committee (PDAC). 

• Reviews Program Director’s Guide to Certification and eLinks. 

• Sets the department standard for courteous and professional customer service.

 • Works on special projects as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

 • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills necessary to organize, structure, and communicate information and ideas clearly. 

• Utilizes proper grammar and vocabulary in both verbal and written usage.

 • Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects with time sensitive components. 

• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and analytical ability to evaluate and ensure accuracy of data related to research, certification status and applicant information. 

• Ability to identify problems, consider alternatives, consult with peers, and implement solutions.

 • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint. 

• Working knowledge of database management systems. 

• Proficient in clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.


Education and Experience:

 • Baccalaureate degree preferred.

 • Minimum of 5 years business experience and strong background in customer service
