POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Designer is an integral member of the design team, directly supporting the Director of Design in shaping the brand's creative direction. This role demands a keen eye for emerging trends, a passion for color and design, and the ability to synthesize insights into compelling presentations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating initiative and a collaborative spirit while contributing to innovative design projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take a proactive role in developing seasonal and monthly trend presentations. Conduct thorough trend research, identify key insights, and source impactful imagery. Manage the preparation of engaging presentations and handouts that effectively communicate design directions to internal stakeholders.
- Guide and mentor assistants in the preparation of trend presentations, fostering a collaborative environment that emphasizes high standards and creative excellence.
- Collaborate closely with the Director to create dynamic seasonal color palettes through extensive research. Draft innovative palettes for all brands and oversee the management of color records and Pantone orders, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Liaise with the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) manager to ensure timely updates to color information and maintain accurate color representation within the PLM system, facilitating seamless integration into design workflows.
- Provide essential support to the Director on various design initiatives, including GS (Global Sourcing) development, approvals, fashion shows, and collection design. Contribute creative insights and solutions to enhance project outcomes.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of trend research, color palettes, and design projects. Ensure all materials are organized and accessible, promoting efficient collaboration across the design team.
- Lead the creation of original designs, including sketches, technical drawings, and prototypes, ensuring all work reflects the brand’s aesthetic and strategic direction.
- Conduct in-depth research on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscapes to inform and inspire design decisions, driving innovation within product lines.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of design files, including sketches, CADs, and technical documents, ensuring easy access for all team members throughout the design process.
- Stay ahead of emerging design trends and techniques, integrating relevant insights into projects to keep the brand at the forefront of the industry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
- 3+ years of Design experience with strong product development experience across different product categories in women’s wear
- Ability to develop commercial color & print direction that is trend-right with guidance from Design Director
- Advanced understanding of trends and ability to forecast trends
- Advanced fabric knowledge and garment construction
- Understanding of brands and marketing with an excellent color sense
- Strong communication and follow up skills
- Extremely detail oriented and organized with the ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a must
- Excellent computer skills – Microsoft word, Power Point, Excel
