About the Position
This position is a dually allocated support position that will provide entry level administrative and budget support and assistance to our Budget Unit. The incumbents will perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities under the close supervision of the Unit Chief.

The Office of the State’s Attorney strives to secure justice for all residents through firm, fair and consistent prosecutions with the highest level of experience, integrity and professionalism. The Office will be responsive to the very diverse community of Prince George’s County, treating every person with dignity and respect. The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is responsible for serving nearly one million residents of Prince George's County. The SAO's legal department is divided into multiple divisions, each of which has jurisdiction over different facets of criminal law.
Position Duties
- Assists in the identification of possible grant opportunities for the office, including working with Executive Leadership and professional staff in the various prosecution units and with fiscal staff in evaluating possible opportunities to see if they fit within office priorities and capabilities.
- Involves independent research and the examination and review of private and governmental sources.
- Assists professional and administrative staff in the preparation of grant applications
- Assists professional and administrative staff in complying with the terms of grants received, including meeting both the substantive obligations associated with the grants, as appropriate, and the budgetary and reporting requirements associated with the grant
- Assists budget and human resources staff in ensuring grant funded positions are established and filled in a timely manner.
- Gathers and synthesizes information and data on office operations and activities in a form that can be used for reports and presentations
- Assists in the preparation of required and requested grant reports, presentations and/or related materials depicting office operations including but not limited to caseloads, case disposition for the office as a whole for specific prosecution units as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D., plus 30 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university towards an Associate's degree with course work in accounting and financial management
- One (1) year of experience providing paraprofessional support to an accounting or budget office performing budgetary or financial recordkeeping within an automated accounting system
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to create and edit various memoranda and business communications.
- Ability to maintain a professional image with face-to-face contact with division staff, County Government Officials, vendors, and the public.
- Ability to exercise a professional approach and deportment on telephone communications, including routing calls, written correspondence, email, etc., are required.
- Ability to take the initiative, use good judgment, exercise independent decision-making, and provide excellent customer service.
