Highland Park Methodist Day School Front Desk & Classroom Support (LWT Specialist)
The HPUMC Day School Staffing Coordinator & Front Desk Assistant is responsible for managing multiple tasks efficiently, from overseeing the day school’s office operations and coordinating staffing needs. A key responsibility is maintaining the scheduling for teachers and floats to ensure compliance with minimum standards for CCL. This position also assists with Classroom support, Specials transitions and the Leaning without Tears programming., including training, implementation and assessments.

Working Hours: This is a full -time position that will work 40 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: MWF 8:00am – 5:00pm T/TH 9:00am - 6:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk & Administrative Duties:
- Greet and assist parents, visitors, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries.
- Handle general school communications including monthly newsletter.
- Assist with scheduling, appointments, and event coordination.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and family information.
Classroom Support (Floating):
- Provide coverage in classrooms as needed to maintain ratios and ensure safety.
- Support teachers with classroom activities, transitions, and supervision.
- Assist students with daily routines, social-emotional support, and basic needs.
Follow classroom schedules and support teachers in implementing lesson plans.
Specials Transitions:
- Manage scheduling and transitions for student specials (art, Spanish, music, PE, enrichment).
- Ensure students arrive at and are picked up from specials on time and safely.
- Communicate with specials instructors and classroom teachers to maintain smooth operations.
- Track attendance and assist with any special program materials or needs.
Learning Without Tears Specialist:
- Train and Implement Learning Without Tears curriculum for designated classes and/or small groups.
- Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate handwriting and fine motor activities.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate handwriting skills into daily routines.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and administration.
- Maintain LWT materials and ensure program consistency across classrooms.
- Implements and finalizes LWT assessments

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (CDA, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience in early childhood education or administrative roles preferred.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn Learning Without Tears program.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive, flexible attitude with a passion for working with young children.
- Knowledge of state licensing regulations and childcare best practices is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be completed while employed)
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
- Clearance with the state CCL to be present in a childcare licensing center
