The primary responsibilities of a Personal Banker are understanding the financial products and services offered at NBC, listening to and restating the customer’s financial needs, communicating product understanding, effectively problem-solving, and adeptly closing the sale. It is necessary to use professional sales skills like identifying prospects and following through on all leads, sending letters, and making telephone calls to targeted customers (may include existing relationships and/or prospective relationships), and when appropriate, actively increasing the number of products and/or services used by current customers. A Personal Banker actively participates as a bank team member in the communities we serve and demonstrates collaborative leadership in all areas of the bank, including the teller line. This position acts as a sales leader, attaining bank goals and constantly striving to improve the bank's profitability by obtaining new customers and developing relationships with existing customers. Communicating genuine care for the financial well-being of both new and existing customers is essential. Personal bankers will spend most of their time developing business inside and outside the branches, promoting business with the Commercial Lending and Treasury Management teams, and developing their financial knowledge. Assures compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Qualified candidates will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; post-secondary education is beneficial.
- Minimum of two years in retail sales or comparable experience in the financial services industry. Prior experience as a Teller I preferred.
- Demonstrates career progression, showing initiative, professionalism, and sales success.
- Based upon both job expectations and level of knowledge/experience, you may be asked to complete additional educational training. This training may include in-house or outside seminars, correspondence courses, or college and technical school classes.
- Shows interpersonal skills necessary to make a good first impression and the ability to relate to and empathize with customers. All while maintaining a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor throughout the day.
- Flexibility to work retail hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to initiate sales conversations with prompting and shows resilience to rejection.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Dependable transportation.
- NMLS# required to service HELOCS - if not licensed previously, compliance with the licensing requirements will be necessary (including a background check and fingerprinting).

The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $30.00 per hour.
