Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems with the finish saw and communicates to frontline leadership or appropriate maintenance resources.
  • Verifies the product cut length as denoted for the process and at an acceptable frequency i.e - Shift change, stoppages, new dies/orders, first cut and last cut.
  • Verifies cut tolerance for each customer/order to assure cut length adherence.
  • Ensure proper saw blade coolant, oil levels, and correct fluids to cut product effectively.
  • Empties saw chip collector at the end of each shift or as needed; contacts fork-lift driver when chips dumpsters are full.
  • Protects and handles material with care to prevent scratches, dents, and any damage that can occur in transition.
  • Adheres to stacking procedures via plant systems such as Auto Die Viewer when available, stacking layout and type of spacer.
  • Assures material has enough spacer bars and are aligned consistently to prevent denting.
  • Utilizes procedural systems and effective communication with press crew/lead to understand any special instructions, quality alerts, or additional process needs. Leads/communicates upcoming setup with good time management and assists with setting up dollies, racks etc. to maintain flow.
  • Assures that all completed racks/free stacks have saw chips blown out efficiently from both ends prior toage.
  • Knowledge of quality policies and adheres to front/rear marking procedures, sampling, tagging, and labelling.
  • Advises fork-lift driver of any special or different age practices.
  • Supports and adheres to frontline leadership, supervisor, or department manager initiatives.
  • Ensures equipment is operating correctly and communicates effectively if maintenance or engineering resources are needed to fix/improve operations.
  • Assures product change overs are conducted efficiently and uptime is optimized through preparedness and effective communication with saw crew.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Willing to train.
