General Statement of Job: This position is responsible for maintaining the floors and baseboards throughout the hospital campus to provide a safe and hazard-free environment for employees, patients and visitors. Employees perform general, routine cleaning, maintenance, waxing and restoration services.
Essential Functions:
Performs all duties and tasks in keeping with regulatory requirements and departments policies and procedures.
Utilizes safety equipment and barriers when performing floor care to prevent injury to staff, visitors, and patients.
Sweeps, mops and buffs floors of hospital buildings.
Strips, seals and finishes floors as needed.
Coordinates floor care duties with clinical staff to ensure the safety and health of staff and patients.
Introduces his/herself to customers when working in their areas, providing any safety precaution instructions, and ensures the environment is left in the appropriate safe manner.
Consults with supervisor concerning assignments and keeps supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems as appropriate.
Assists with a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul and construction duties in all hospital buildings as assigned.
Performs assigned rounds in keeping with department guidelines and regulatory requirements, department needs including but not limited to linen and trash.
Applies cost-effective measures in the utilization of materials and personnel.
Coordinates activities to accomplish work and assigns workers to complete tasks as necessary.
Performs floor care equipment maintenance and repairs: Dismantles devices, replaces defective parts, adjusts and calibrates equipment, installs new parts, lubricates, cleans, and tests equipment.
Continually monitors the work site to ensure compliance with safety, quality, codes and regulations.
Receives assignments and work orders and reviews them for priority status and designated time schedule.
Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience:
Two (2) to five (5) years' experience preferred.
