Job Summary:
The Manager of Network Security provides day-to-day operational leadership and strategic oversight for our growing security engineering team. This role ensures the resilience, security, and compliance of customer networks by driving excellence in service delivery, developing team talent, and aligning technical execution with organizational objectives. The Manager of Network Security supervises technical staff, sets and enforces security standards, enforces KPIs and SLAs and owns the development of departmental processes and SOPs. In office role highly preferred.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform all supervisory duties associated with the Network Security Engineering team including employee-related issues
- Direct daily operations of the Network Security Team analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines
- Ensuring effective incident response, firewall/security device management, and escalation handling.
- Perform supervisory duties including employee-related issues, management of professional development, performance reviews, and KPI’s
- Partner with executive leadership to define, prioritize, and manage security initiatives and projects.
- Establish, manage, and evolve the appropriate SLAs and customer satisfaction measures that are aligned to business needs
- Plan, organize, schedule, and supervise the strategic technical operations, including troubleshooting, customer service issues, approvals, and installations
- Architect and oversee secure network solutions, including firewalls, VPN, SD-WAN, IDS/IPS, NAC, Switching, Wireless and cloud security integrations
- Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, and vendors to solicit cooperation and resolve problems
- Set security standards relating to data and network protection and ensure they are enforced and maintained
- Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements
- Develop policies, standards and procedures related to technological best practices
- Maintain and ensure compliance with our customer Network Security baseline
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or commensurate experience
- 6-9 years of experience in the management of high-performance technology teams, including setting standards for development, training, and operational leadership
- 2+ years' experience leading, mentoring, coaching, training, and monitoring the performance of a team
- Success managing a high-performing team in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to manage a diverse team to achieve and surpass key metrics within the department
- Extensive experience in IT service delivery, including servers, network devices, firewalls, databases, and systems
- In-depth understanding of IT industry trends and the ability to apply understanding to identify solutions
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Experience training and mentoring mid-entry level technology professionals
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates
- Understanding of the technical relationships between infrastructure technologies and current applications that are part of the product and service portfolio
- Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate superior leadership, presentation, and planning ability, as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Business acumen; translating business requirements into related solutions
- Flexible and able to remain calm in times of stress while managing multiple priorities at one time
- Active listener with excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to handle difficult conversations
- Sound problem-solving technique with ability and persistence to generate options and select the best solution
- Ability to build relationships based on trust to enable collaboration amongst team members and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and various levels of management both verbally and in written form
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Team player mentality and willingness to share knowledge with others
