Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Business Analyst is a highly experienced Business Analyst acting as a trusted technology consultant for many business areas across the organization. To effectively consult, the Business Analyst needs expert-level understanding of the people and operational processes within the areas they support. This role also requires a deep understanding of the business systems, both front-end and back-end, to effectively coordinate the activities of teams in completion of projects.
Nature of the Job:
Senior Business Analyst acts as a trusted advisor, leveraging expert knowledge of the business, processes, and systems to identify opportunities, lead complex technology projects, and drive solutions. The role involves in-depth understanding of both front-end and back-end systems, translating business needs into technical requirements, managing project teams, performing system configuration, developing user training, and mentoring junior analysts.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience a Business Analyst.
Has expert understanding of the business areas, including processes and systems to support technology initiatives.
Proven ability to lead large, complex projects spanning across the organization with limited direction.
Expert business acumen, process flow and ability to translate business processes into technical requirements.
Expert in requirements gathering, project plan development, and user training and support.
Ability to define processes in business terms in standard format.
Expert level knowledge of operational processes in many business areas across the organization and knowledge of industry practice and standards, and the data sets which have impact on the organization.
Advanced knowledge of people, processes, and systems in many business areas required to effectively demo to and train operational business users, department managers, and high-level executives.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead requirements gathering sessions. Document requirements and translate into technical terms for engineering teams.
Manage large scale or complex projects while mentoring less experienced Business Analysts.
Creates test plans and tests requirements according to the test plans as part of the UAT process.
Knowledge of systems across the enterprise to consult the business on solution design.
Creates training plans for end users across the organization.
Expert knowledge of front-end business systems and how the business uses them.
Expert knowledge of business system capabilities to identify gaps between what's available versus what's being used.
Executes simple to moderate system configuration changes: New user access, password resets, moderately complex User Interface changes, new module configuration (if module is independent and heavy coding is not required), API connections for data integration work, and system report creation.
Expert level understanding of Elliott business systems and how they need to work together. Thorough understanding of front-end usage and back-end structure.
Reviews work of lower level analysts and provides guidance.
Plans and organizes projects- driving deliverable commitments to customers under limited direction. Is strategic in approach and considers the effect of current action on future company outcomes.
