DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the primary regional leader for both design and construction management efforts, ensuring project alignment with business objectives.
- Lead a team of Design Managers and Construction Managers within a geographic region, providing guidance and performance oversight.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with general contractors, trade partners, design firms, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and key suppliers.
- Implement and enforce best practices for design and construction management that ensure performance certainty across projects.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop short- and long-term strategies for the platform execution function.
Project Execution & Delivery
- Oversee all aspects of major construction programs from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover, including pipeline planning, delivery approaches, contracting models, and customer delivery strategies.
- Ensure seamless project handoffs between the land enablement, design, , construction, and operations teams.
- Drive adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial targets.
- Monitor and assess design and construction risks, implementing proactive mitigation strategies.
- Provide executive reporting on regional project performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Process Improvement
- Work in close partnership with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Operations, IT/Network, Procurement, Legal, and Finance teams to align project execution with business needs.
- Work closely with other Regional Directors to audit execution of their projects and collaborate on execution and delivery consistency, including dissemination of lessons learned, best practices, and common customer requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness in design and construction processes.
- Standardization and optimize workflows, leveraging data analytics and technology to drive innovation.
Team Development & Leadership
- Mentor, develop, and manage Design and Construction Managers, fostering a high-performance culture within the regional team.
- Implement robust training programs to ensure competency and consistency across all regions.
- Execute to key performance metrics and accountability frameworks to measure team success and identify areas for improvement.
- Support hiring efforts to build a diverse and highly skilled team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the work of Design and Construction Managers, ensuring adherence to project goals and organizational standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and develop professional growth plans for direct reports.
- Facilitate team meetings, strategy sessions, and cross-departmental collaboration efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements across all managed projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in industrial / process / mission-critical construction, with a strong focus on data center development.
- Proven track record of leading both design and construction teams.
- Expertise in data center MEP systems, infrastructure design, and large-scale project execution.
- Deep industry relationships within the regional data center construction and design communities.
- Strong knowledge of project delivery models, including IPD, Design-Build, and CM at Risk.
- Experience navigating local zoning, permitting, permitting strategies, and inspection authorities within a region.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Smartsheets, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and project management software (Procore, BIM 360, P6/MS Projects, etc.).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive organizational change.
