POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional - Support Response Team 

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: AIM Program Lead

POSITION STATUS: Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday, 7:45 am – 4:15 pm

DUTY DAYS: 177


 POSITION PURPOSE:  This position functions to support students and staff with student behavioral concerns, assists with school safety protocols under the direction of a direct supervisor.

 

The Support Response Team paraprofessional serves under the direction of a supervisor to support student behavior concerns, provide substitute coverage for paraprofessional absences, and facilitate the implementation of safety protocols across school settings.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Proactive
    • Proactively build relationships with all students
    • Help students formulate strategies/plans for successful behavior at school
    • Supervise hallway during student passing times
    • Monitor students in the lunchroom 
    • Collaborate with student’s team to provide the necessary level of support, specifically case managers
    • Assist teams with implementation of behavior plans and data collection
    • Create, maintain and monitor behavior referral forms for identification of developing patterns
    • Participate in supporting all drills, including debriefing of procedures
    • Support and model school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) 
  • Responsive
    • Respond to daily behavior, crisis and health emergency calls as a member of the crisis team
    • Assist students in de-escalation following an incident
    • Assist with student debriefing of critical situations
    • Communicate all behavior incidents to the Direct Supervisor to review/confirm student- specific behavior plan interventions and help determine follow up 
  • Flexible Paraprofessional
    • Provides on demand paraprofessional coverage throughout the school ensure safe operations of the school
    • May provide longer term subbing coverage during the recruitment hiring process, leaves of absences, etc
    • Responsive to student and classroom needs through supporting areas where additional staff are needed

 OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Participate in staff development programs 
  • Attend all meetings, including educational assistant meetings

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Non Crisis Intervention or willing to be certified 
  • Experience managing behaviors, executing behavior plans and willingness to complete training
  • Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks

  

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of post high school educational training
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certified
  • 1 Year of experience at Lionsgate Academy
  • Emotional Behavior Disorder / Autism knowledge

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
