General Manager

We are looking for someone innovative and motivated to lead our Quest Suzuki site as a General Manager. The role involves managing the dealership performance and teams, with the support of the Sales, Service and Parts Managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for both sales and aftersales, comprising of new and used car sales opportunities, our busy multi-franchised Bosch Service Centre workshop, and our parts department. You will be focussed on ensuring our teams remain fully engaged and supported, and that our customers receive the best possible experience.
Previous experience in an automotive General Manager role is preferred, and sales management experience is required. If you have previous experience as a Sales Manager and are looking to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you! Candidates must have a result driven focus whilst having a professional, friendly and customer centric approach and must be able to instil this within their team.
The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm with an hour unpaid lunch break.
What we’re looking for in a General Manager:
- Previous experience in motor trade management.
- Knowledge of sales and aftersales principles.
- Previous experience of working to, and successfully achieving targets.
- Ability to work as part of, and lead a team.
- Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent customer service/people skills delivering services to high standards.
- Must have flexible, hands on ‘can do’ approach.
- Open minded and inquisitive to future growth and development opportunities.
- Proficient in relevant computer applications and systems.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
Key job areas of the General Manager role:
- Lead the dealership team, including supporting both the sales and aftersales functions.
- Build and maintain positive manufacturer relationships.
- Manage and monitor performance to achieve agreed dealership targets.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and behaviours.
- Maintain up-to-date brand and company knowledge on products and ensure the team keep informed.
- Oversee financial management for the dealership.
- Lead the strategic development of the dealership to achieve key targets.
- Ensure site compliance in all areas of H&S, GDPR and finance.
- Monitor individual and team performance against targets and support training where required.
