The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick is working hard to address the critical issue’s facing the region; the health crisis, population decline, youth outmigration and child poverty. The Opportunity:
We are currently looking for a Child Care Educators, Support Workers, Facility Cleaners, Fitness Coach and Lifeguards and Swim Instructor to join our team. Following are the responsibilities for specific roles
After School Educator and Support Worker Responsibilities
- Understands and complies with New Brunswick After School Program standards, YMCA “A Place to Connect,” the Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum, and Abuse Protocol Practices.
- Plans and implements engaging programming in accordance with YMCA and provincial standards.
- Demonstrates a commitment to children’s learning, inclusion, and overall development, remaining responsive to current research and best practices.
- Recognizes each child and their family’s specific needs and works to ensure successful outcomes.
- Follows all daily routines, ensuring they are documented and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick employee and program manuals.
Fitness Coach Responsibilities
- Engage with members on the fitness floor, offering guidance, exercise demonstrations, and scheduling personalized training sessions.
- Ensure the fitness equipment is in excellent working condition and accessible to all members.
- Provide safe and effective instruction for individual and group fitness activities.
- Respond promptly to member needs and concerns with professionalism and care.
- Offer lifestyle advice to members interested in enhancing their fitness experience at the Y.
- Monitor safety on the fitness floor and provide first aid assistance when required.
- Support special events and help maintain a clean, welcoming fitness environment.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver innovative programs based on feedback and fitness trends.
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, ensuring participants’ safety and enforcing facility rules.
- Respond promptly and appropriately in emergencies, providing emergency care, resuscitation, and first aid as needed.
- Plan and lead swim lessons that cater to participants’ age and ability, ensuring progress and water safety awareness.
- Build positive relationships with participants and their families, providing regular feedback and updates on their progress.
- Ensure staff, volunteers, and members follow pool conduct guidelines to maintain a safe environment.
- Maintain up-to-date records of participants, including progress sheets and Daily Logs.
- Set up and take down equipment as needed for programs, ensuring it is safe and in good working condition. Report any malfunctions or remove damaged equipment from circulation.
Facilities Cleaner Responsibilities
- Maintains the cleanliness, neatness and organization of the housekeeping area.
- Service, clean and supply locker rooms, public restrooms, etc.
- Laundering of towels.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean and polish fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
