The Manager Volunteer Services/Gift Shop manages the supervision of the volunteer services department, oversees the gift shop, is responsible for promoting and ensuring a profitable retail outlet/revenue source, and delivers a quality volunteer program. 

Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Responsibilities

The Manager Volunteer Services/Gift Shop responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 

* Manages department staff, including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed. 

* Prioritizes/assigns work for effective coverage of all service areas with both paid staff and volunteer assignments. 

* Observes, analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations to the Director regarding department operations, policies, standards, work environment, and safety. 

* Responds to customer concerns regarding the operations of the Volunteer Services Department/Gift Shop. 

* Assists in the development of the department annual budgets and in maintaining monthly expenses. 

* Participates in the continuous Quality Improvement program and process improvement programs within the department. 

* Manages financial operations and development opportunities of fiscal growth of retail locations including deposits and inventory control. 

* Oversees the gift shop operations including financial responsibilities, employee payroll deductions, invoice payment, special events, sales and merchandising. 

* Develops business practices and reporting systems. 

* Develops service area descriptions and procedures for staff and volunteers. Reports to the Director of Volunteer Services/Gift Shops. 

This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Minimal exposure to hazardous risks including the use of a box knife. 

Exposed to constant interruptions, request for information from staff, volunteers, general public, in person and on the telephone. Subject to administrative and financial deadlines. 

Must be flexible as to hours of work, able to deal with many variables at one time, responsive to other personnel needs with a general service orientation. Interacts with multiple administrative teams and leads initiatives. Frequently must work in overcrowded workroom and storage area when unpacking, marking and storing new merchandise. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 4 years of experience in volunteer management or retail operation/management 

* Certified Administrators of Volunteer Services (CAVS) preferred 

* Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
