Job Purpose

The Quality Coordinator supports QA operations by providing shift and weekend coverage, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and maintaining safety across processes. This role conducts focused inspections, resolves quality issues, assists with audits and training, and provides backup for the QA Supervisor/Manager. It plays a key role in preserving product integrity and supporting continuous improvement.

Minimum Skills
• Operate standard office equipment including telephones, scanners, fax machines, and copiers;
• Use computers for various tasks such as word processing and database management;
• Manage paper and electronic filing systems, ensuring accurate documentation of inspections, quality records, correspondence, and other materials;
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers, via phone, email, written correspondence, and in-person interactions;
• Provide alternate shift coverage to support QA Supervisor/Manager and ensure the safety of personnel and processes across all shifts, including weekends;
• Conduct workstation checks to verify daily inspections, gauge functionality, and proper staffing with qualified personnel;
• Perform focused inspections on loose axles and pre-bearing applications for NM and TT sets to prevent AAR MID findings;
• Inspect production samples of production post-bearing application for quality assurance;
• Verify OB track and PDI inspection processes through observation and direct support;
• Manage and route wheel sets on QA hold for corrective action;
• Resolve barcode conflicts and assist with AIC graph approvals, misfit identification, and routing;
• Ensure preservation standards are met for bearings, axles, and wheel sets;
• Validate PC conflicts, including serial number, month, and year accuracy;
• Support MD-11 set inspections as needed;
• Assist with process audits, training administration, and MTE coordination;
• Provide coverage during QA Supervisor / Manager PTO and contribute to succession planning;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Advanced Skills
• Review and approve supplier material certifications prior to material acceptance; collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve discrepancies;
• Audit production documentation for accuracy and completeness; hold teams accountable for proper documentation;
• Prepare documentation for inspections and regulatory compliance;
• Use databases to research and compile detailed reports;
• Maintain calibration database and ensure timely updates as required.

Preferred Experience:
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology;
• Knowledge of principles and processes for meeting quality standards. High level of written communication skills needed;
• Familiarity and experience with technical product inspection and regulatory compliance;
• Experience with data management for MTE calibrations, CAPA systems, and SharePoint document files;
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, quality assurance principles and procedures, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination.
