Primary Purpose:
- Supervise, direct and manage the Social Services team and the district Truancy program. Support the Student, Family and Community Services department in the development, implementation and maintenance of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and programs serving the campuses, students and community.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Mid-Management or Principal certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Knowledge of services provided to students on campus
- Behavior management and counseling skills
- Working knowledge of curriculum and ability to evaluate instructional program
Experience:
- Two years’ experience in instructional leadership role
- Successful experience as a building level administrator
- Three years of teaching experience (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Truancy and Plano ISD Attendance Review Board (PARB)
- Provide training guidance on Truancy Programs related interventions and support of the successful operation of the PARB
- Direct District Truancy Program and collaborate with the Justice of the Peace offices to oversee successful implementation of the program
- Provide department with updated resources list including: community resources, district parenting classes, and prevention programs aimed at mitigating student truancy
Family Engagement
- Develop training programs that address timely needs within the community
- Provide community outreach opportunities such as GED, ESL and parenting classes
- Provide interactive literacy activities to foster parent engagement and increase literacy skills for students and families
- Provide parent classes to foster the parent as teacher relationship
- Provide support and training for the growing number of grandparents that are functioning in the role of primary caregiver
- Provide opportunities for parents to engage with the district by utilizing a variety of training platforms and times to maximize participation
- Design and implement Parent Partners
- Communicate clearly the district's needs and programs to the parents and the community and respond to their concerns in a timely manner
- Partner with Welcome Center to coordinate health fairs and parent programming during special events
Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices
- Identify and gather data to examine department impact on student performance
- Provide support and training
- Direct programming and provide supporting for Social Emotional Learning curriculum for students and staff including restorative practices
- Coordinate with other departments to embedded SEL skills into PISD curriculum
- Utilize a variety of metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and make adjustments utilizing the continual improvement process
Community in Schools (CIS)
- Supervise At-Risk Student Program and Communities-in School Program
- Collaborate with Communities-in-Schools personnel to assure successful implementation
- Work with CIS and campus administration to resolve issues as they arise
- Collaborate with district service departments to coordinate efficient use of resources and maximize program impact
- Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure the best operation of one's area of responsibility
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review and revise job descriptions in the Student, Family and Community Services department
- Assume the responsibility of supervision, delegation, evaluations and recommendations of personnel
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor
- Develop strong working relationships, promote collegiality, and foster a culture of collaboration within the department, with all other district departments, and with the administrative teams of the campuses in the district
- Lead the department to provide for all students equitably and ensure programming and service delivery effectively supports students’ growth academically, socially and emotionally
- Anticipate manage, and resolve conflict effectively by employing effective interpersonal skills
- Direct and evaluate a large group of employees
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
- Follow attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
