Asbestos Principal Lawyer chez Thompsons Solicitors

We are seeking a Principal Lawyer to lead our highly respected Wales Asbestos team, supporting clients affected by asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis, and pleural thickening. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-value Multi Track cases, including matters issued in the Royal Courts of Justice, London, while supervising and developing the next generation of asbestos lawyers. The ideal candidate can be based in either our Llanelli or Cardiff branch but will be expected to work across both locations as there are team members within the department in both offices.

As a Principal Lawyer in our Asbestos team, you will oversee the effective supervision and management of asbestos cases across the practice area. You will deliver exceptional client service, demonstrating empathy, understanding, and sensitivity to clients who are terminally ill or to their families. A key part of the role is to develop and maintain strong client relationships while mentoring and guiding team members, ensuring that all work aligns with our values, standards, and case management procedures. You will lead case strategy, manage resources efficiently, and ensure compliance with financial objectives and litigation standards.

We are seeking a qualified solicitor or equivalent with significant experience in asbestos litigation and a proven track record of running Multi Track asbestos cases from initial interview to trial. The successful candidate will have strong supervisory and leadership skills, with experience guiding and developing junior lawyers. Excellent communication, organisational, and client care skills are essential, alongside empathy, compassion, and a commitment to representing victims of asbestos exposure and strong working relationships with asbestos charities and support groups,

A thorough working knowledge of funding, legal costs, and the litigation process in asbestos claims is also required.
