A school health aide supports the school in promoting the health and safety of students by providing basic first aid, administering medications, maintaining student health records, conducting health screenings, and educating students on health topics. They handle clerical tasks in the health office, communicate with parents and staff, and assist with the implementation of health.
The Details
Key Deliverables:
- Keep the health office clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
- Administer first aid and CPR, monitor students with illnesses or injuries, and assess their needs.
- Dispense prescribed medications to students and monitor their reactions.
- Maintain accurate student health records, document health office activities, and manage immunization records.
- Assist with vision, hearing, and other health screenings.
- Facilitate health education programs to promote wellness among students.
- Inform parents and appropriate staff about health incidents and coordinate with medical professionals.
- Perform basic clerical duties, operate standard office equipment, and manage health data.
- This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, following the school calendar.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Prior experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills for effectively supporting students, parents, and staff
- Proficiency in basic computer skills

We provide an outstanding educational experience in Arts and Technology. HIAT transitioned into the old S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic school located at 5861 Harrison St, Merrillville, IN.
