Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Technician II to join our team at the Texas SCADA Testbed. The Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth coordination and operation of the lab, supporting our engineering team, and contributing to the success of our research and development projects. This position involves a variety of tasks including scheduling, inventory management, purchasing, reporting, and content creation to support funding and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Meeting Scheduling and Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, workshops, and events for lab staff and external collaborators.
  • Manage calendar invites, meeting agendas, and follow-up actions.

Asset Inventory Management

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of lab assets, including hardware, software, and consumables.
  • Conduct regular audits and updates to the inventory system.

Purchasing and Procurement

  • Manage the procurement process for lab supplies and equipment.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes, place orders, and track deliveries.

Engineer Mentoring and Management

  • Assist in onboarding new engineers and providing necessary training on lab protocols and equipment.
  • Support the engineering team in daily tasks and project management.

Reporting and Benchmarking

  • Prepare regular reports on lab activities, project progress, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain benchmarks for lab performance and output.

Content Creation for Funding Initiatives

  • Write and edit content for funding proposals and grant applications.
  • Collaborate with researchers to document research objectives and outcomes.

Research Objectives Support

  • Assist in the creation and management of research objectives and project plans.
  • Track progress and ensure alignment with lab goals.

Marketing Interface

  • Provide critical content and insights for marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote lab achievements and capabilities.

Centralized File Management System

  • Create and maintain a centralized file management system for lab documentation.
  • Ensure proper organization, accessibility, and security of all lab files.

Qualifications* 

We are recruiting for two Technician II positions to support the Cybersecurity Center. 

Minimum qualifications for a Technician II: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience .
  • Three years of related experience.

The well-qualified candidates would possess the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration).
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or technical environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
