JOB OVERVIEW
MartinFed has an opening for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join our team of talented and diverse individuals. The Senior Enterprise Architect designs, builds, implements, and maintains enterprise-class systems and architectures that support mission-critical operations. Serving as an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), this role ensures alignment of enterprise technology solutions with business objectives, cybersecurity standards, and organizational risk management strategies. The architect is responsible for developing baseline and target enterprise architectures, addressing design gaps, and integrating secure, scalable, and interoperable frameworks that meet compliance requirements. Acting as both a strategic advisor and technical leader, the Senior Enterprise Architect plays a key role in driving architectural integrity, governance, and innovation across the enterprise.
Essential Functions:
- Enterprise Architecture Design & Governance
- Design and maintain secure, scalable, and interoperable enterprise architectures that meet mission requirements.
- Develop baseline and target architectures for production environments aligned with security and risk posture.
- Align architectural frameworks and standards (TOGAF, DoDAF, NIST) with business and technology strategies.
- Strategic Planning & Alignment
- Partner with leadership and stakeholders to translate mission needs and compliance requirements into architectural solutions.
- Ensure architectures support the Risk Management Framework (RMF), continuous monitoring, and secure operations.
- Gap Analysis & Remediation
- Identify deficiencies or design gaps in existing or proposed architectures.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve stability, security, portability, and scalability across on-premises and cloud systems.
- Standards & Policy Integration
- Develop and enforce enterprise architectural policies, standards, and principles.
- Integrate cybersecurity frameworks, federal compliance mandates (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53), and Zero Trust principles into enterprise designs.
- Technology Evaluation & Implementation
- Assess emerging technologies for strategic alignment and enterprise security.
- Guide technology selection, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise systems and services.
- Documentation & Communication
- Produce detailed architectural documentation, roadmaps, and reference models for governance and operational use.
- Present complex technical solutions and architectural strategies to senior leaders, system owners, and governance boards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- US Citizen with a Top Secret Clearance w/ SCI Elgibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience. 8+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, systems engineering, or IT strategy with a focus on security and risk management.)
- Strong understanding of architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, DODAF).
- Strong understanding of federal IT standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-series, FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise architectures supporting RMF processes and cybersecurity programs.
- Expertise in designing and integrating cloud, hybrid, and on-premises enterprise systems.
- Proven ability to conduct gap analyses and develop scalable architecture solutions.
DESIRED:
- Certifications such as TOGAF, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Enterprise Architect (CEA), or AWS/Azure Architecture certifications.
- Experience supporting federal agencies, national security, or defense organizations.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture, microservices, containerization, and identity and access management (IAM).
- Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Inside office environment.
- Working on a computer for long periods of time.
- May involve long period of sitting at a desk.
- The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures.
