Essential Duties:

Spiritual Formation: Intentionally provide opportunities for staff to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. 

  • Participate in opportunities for growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
  • With direction from supervisor, develop an annual personal spiritual growth plan.
  • Foster an environment where department staff has opportunities for ongoing spiritual development,
  • including execution of their personal spiritual growth plan.

Attentive Hospitality: Equip servant leaders who anticipate and respond to the needs of our camp staff and vendors, through Christ-like service. 

  • Support a department posture of service that anticipates camp leadership, staff and vendor’s needs and responds with professionalism through intentional decisions and systems.

Interpersonal Relationships: Help build relationships that reflect the character of God with camp staff, vendors and

construction workers to foster healthy community. 

  • Build relationships that reflect the character of God among project teams, camp staff, camping leadership, vendors and construction workers to foster healthy community. 
  • Participate in project teams and demonstrate the importance of interpersonal relationships with camp staff, vendors and construction workers while supporting a healthy community.

Comprehensive Stewardship: Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment that have been entrusted to our ministry.

  • Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment that have been entrusted to our ministry through the Construction Services department.
  • Construction Projects
    • Administer and maintain the Project Management Software.
    • Perform duties related to budgeting and cost management.
    • Prepare bid packages, bid review and analysis, recommendation for awards.
    • Review architectural and engineering drawings for accuracy and feasibility.
    • Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
    • Assist with project scheduling.
    • Create, review and track all RFI, Change Orders, and Submittal information as directed.
    • Run project meetings. Provide minutes for meetings as directed.
    • Provide Project Manager with weekly site project photos and daily progress reports.  Daily progress reports are to include weather conditions, notable safety events, general description of work performed, and the number of contractors on site.
    • Communicate with general contracting team as directed to provide details and project specifics on behalf of Young Life.
    • Unload shipments as needed.
    • Coordinate and participate in the project close out and punch list.
    • Organize the owner operation manuals and as built record drawings upon completion of the project. Add as-builts to the YLWFR network and YL Construction Services server.
    • Attend to special projects within the greater project, contributing to the overall team effort.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project alignment and communication.

Talent Development: Through a consistent and accountable evaluation process, we identify and provide opportunities for staff in continuing education, leadership development, career-pathing and cross-training.

  • Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities.
  • Foster department staff participation in the Individual Development Plan process as well as other training and development opportunities.
  • Intentionally pursue opportunities in personal growth and development.

  • Ensure the integrity of the master plan is maintained in all field decisions as they relate to location and placement of buildings, infrastructure, theme, and size.
  • Maintain as-built drawings that will become part of the master plans at the camp and provide an electronic version of the plans to the office of the Director of Construction.
  • Assist with the management of the permitting of the individual projects as directed by supervisor.

Working Conditions:

  • May include lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending down, stooping, stretching, kneeling and reaching.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • On project site daily collaborating and communicating with staff, contractors and volunteers.
  • May include remote working.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or building science, or substitute a minimum of 2-4 years of construction experience.

Qualifications and Experience Required for The Job:

  • Capable of reading construction drawings and specifications.
  • Possess understanding of construction science and the trades.
  • Capable of performing administrative duties and operating in a jobsite office environment.
  • Ability to follow a construction schedule, interpret requirements and implement actions to achieve goals.
  • Capable of providing clear, written and verbal directions with subcontractors, designers, consultants, camp staff and other stakeholders.
  • Computer literate in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Project, word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
  • Experience in Autocadd and Revit preferred.

Job Specific Working Conditions:

This job will be located in Challenge, California. The selected candidate will be supporting capital projects for multiple camps. The work at other camps, other than Woodleaf, will be performed remotely. The other camp the candidate would help support is Washington Family Ranch in Oregon.

Note: The anticipated hourly rate for this position can range from $21.75-$27.19 depending on relevant education, experience, and location.

Notes:

Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.
