About the Department

Provide administrative and clerical support to the County Attorney’s Office by assisting attorneys in preparing legal documents, maintaining case files, obtaining records, scheduling appointments and court dates, and other related duties as may be assigned from time to time. 

Position Duties

  • Assist attorneys in preparing and organizing legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and contracts.
  • Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files.
  • Manage the office calendar, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
  • Communicate with parties, witnesses, and other professionals involved in cases.
  • E-file legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and compile information for attorneys.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating witness availability.
  • Draft correspondence and emails as needed.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and phone calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal information and documents.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by attorneys or the Administrative Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the Legal Assistant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for the position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

High school diploma or equivalent required.  Two years’ experience in the legal profession as a legal secretary, paralegal, or a related position, or any equivalent combination of experience and training is preferred.
