About the Department

Loudoun County Animal Services is focused on creative and progressive lifesaving through pet retention as well as animal adoption, mental health support through kennel enrichment, foster care and compassionate humane law enforcement. LCAS is dedicated to gold-standard animal sheltering and operates the first public animal shelter in the United States to meet 100% of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians Animal Shelter guidelines, giving staff a rare opportunity to be part of a comprehensive and cutting-edge animal services team. We are excited to be expanding our team substantially this year and have developed new roles to grow our staff and further serve our community.

Position Duties

Do you love animals of all shapes and sizes—and don’t mind a little fur (or formula) on your clothes? Loudoun County’s Department of Animal Services (LCAS) is looking for an enthusiastic multitasker to join our team as a Pet Foster Care Coordinator.

In this role, you’ll be the friendly face and guiding hand for community members who open their homes to animals in need. You’ll recruit, train, and champion foster families, ensuring they feel confident and supported every step of the way— from bottle-feeding fragile kittens to helping big dogs practice their best manners, you’ll make sure animals heading into foster care are set up for success. You’ll also lead our transfer program, working with partner organizations to coordinate incoming animals, share resources and develop long-lasting relationships.

If the idea of combining hands-on animal care with lifesaving program coordination excites you, we’d love to have you on our team. Please include a cover letter with your application detailing your interest and qualifications in this new position.
