POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary objective of this position is to manage grants and grant reporting for all programs, projects and campaigns for Pillsbury United Communities in the area of private institutional donors. The Grants Manager is responsible for implementing the grants strategy in each fiscal year. This person reports to the Vice President of Advancement and is responsible for writing and submitting all grants going to private granting entities; reporting, working across the organization to assure grant guidelines are met. The Grants Manager also works with the VP of Advancement, Program Directors and Managers and Finance to financially steward all private funds received by PUC. The Grants Manager works as part of the Advancement Team in raising resources for PUC by establishing cross-functional partnership teams to meet the financial and material needs of PUC. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of local, state and national funding entities, have strong funding research and writing skills, and will possess strengths in connection building and understanding relational dynamics.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Strategy and Thought Leadership
* Work with the Head of Advancement in developing and implementing annual grant strategies.
* Deep knowledge of Minnesota foundations and funds.
* Provide training as needed for program staff on grants best practices.
* Maintains relevant understanding of funding communities and shares information, changes and updates with appropriate staff and leadership.
Operations and Outcomes
* Write, edit (co-write and edit) all grant proposals going to nongovernmental entities from PUC.
* Develop and maintain grants tracking systems for meeting all deadlines.
* Meet financial goals within the budget year.
* Develop seamless processes for grant production, submission and reporting.
* Research and qualify new grant opportunities.
* Ensure all grants are quantified within the Advancement tracking systems and database.
People and Community Development
* Maintain strong relationships with funders and provide support as needed for strengthening PUC’s leadership relationships with funders.
* Attend events as requested.
* Maintain and support regular communication with foundation staff and leadership.
* Implement annual stewardship plan for Foundations.
* Stay aware of issues, challenges and triumphs impacting PUC communities.
* Participate in professional development opportunities.
* Participate in department and agency-wide meetings as required.
Financial Management
* Work with the Vice President of Advancement in developing annual revenue budgets and expense budgets annually.
* Manage program expenses.
* Work with Finance in tracking pledges, providing follow-up to pledges and managing pledge aging reports.
* Participate in weekly reconciliation with Finance.
* Provide data and information for forecasting and other financial management as requested by the Vice President of Advancement.
