East Cambridge Savings Bank’s Lending Division is actively recruiting for an SVP/Senior Commercial Banking Officer.

 

Function:

Under the guidance of the President & Chief Executive Officer, manages a commercial lending team that oversees and develops relationships with commercial loan clients while meeting individual and team goals and objectives. Plans, organizes and directs all bank commercial loan origination functions for small business, commercial & industrial, and commercial real estate lending. Meets lending requirements in accordance with established Bank policies, procedures, and strategic goals.

 

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent through special training in lending, credit or related subjects.  
  • More than twelve years progressively responsible experience in commercial lending, including management experience. 
  • Excellent analytical, operations management, organizational and communication skills.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recommends Commercial Lending Division policies and/or upgrades and improvements to existing policies and procedures ensuring policy changes are implemented. Reviews new laws and regulations that influence business lending within ECSB and makes recommendations to management when necessary. Keeps abreast of regulatory and competitive developments and assesses impact of same.
  • Responsible for sound credit quality and practices in commercial lending. Responsible for the management of the team’s credit risk and all credits presented for approval and annual reviews. Renders final credit decisions on Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans within lending authority.
  • Responsible for overseeing the management and direction of the commercial lending team, ensuring the Division is adequately staffed with properly trained personnel. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential. Manages all personnel related matters for direct reports including performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions and resolves personnel conflicts as needed. 
  • Strategizes with team to develop and implement the bank-wide commercial lending business development and marketing plan. Ensures that business development goals, deposit generation, loan fees, and asset quality targets are met. Assesses market position and competition opportunities.
  • In concert with the President & CEO, coordinates and directs bank-wide delivery of all commercial lending services. Develops and recommends loan portfolio goals, including volume, mix, interest rate/yield and overall profitability criteria.
  • Enhances the profitability of new and existing commercial lending relationships through the encouragement of cross-selling, loan pricing management, loan fee generation, and the acquisition of deposits, cash management services and merchant services.
  • Works as an integral part of the Bank’s executive management team to develop and to reach the Bank’s goals and objectives, strategies, and policies. Translates strategic objectives into operational programs and monitors on-going progress while supporting goals of the bank while working within policy objectives.
  • Provides guidance and direction to Business Development Officers, Commercial Lending Officers and Relationship Managers. Guides and advises Team Members in complex loan structures. Guides and assists in development of support staff.
  • Responsible for all relationship management and customer satisfaction. Offers assistance to customers with difficult questions or concerns with commercial real estate and C&I lending services, keeping President & CEO abreast of the status of commercial lending services.
  • Prepares an annual budget and operates within the established cost controls. Compiles financial information and presents loans to Loan Committee for approval. Monitors and reports on performance in relation to Commercial Lending goals to President & CEO.
  • Represents Bank to customers and community in order to maintain and expand relationships. Actively participates in community activities and manages similar participation among all assigned personnel. Supports the Bank’s CRA function.

 

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs related managerial, administrative, and special projects as required or assigned to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the lending function.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulatory requirements. Ensures that management and staff members complete BSA- related annual training in a timely manner and that all BSA procedures are followed when applicable. Identifies and reports compliance related issues and suspicious activity.
