 The Process Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of control systems used in aerosol manufacturing processes. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment by leveraging automation, instrumentation, and process control strategies. The engineer will partner closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement, reduce downtime, and enhance product consistency.

 Key Responsibility:

  • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other industrial control systems.
  • Maintain and improve process automation across filling, gassing, crimping, packaging, and utilities systems.
  • Implement and maintain Ignition SCADA projects for real-time process visibility, data collection, and operator interface.
  • Analyze process data and control loops to optimize production efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and implement advanced control strategies to reduce waste, variability, and downtime.
  • Support equipment upgrades, new line installations, and commissioning of automated systems.
  • Specify, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, weight, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other regulatory and safety standards specific to aerosol operations.
  • Maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and change management records.
  • Provide technical support and training for operators and maintenance technicians on control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead root cause analysis (RCA) of automation-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects aligned with Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in process controls or automation engineering (aerosol, chemical, or consumer goods manufacturing preferred)
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA development and integration.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of process instrumentation and calibration techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience in the high-speed manufacturing is highly desirable.
